Emily is off to Disney

My little friend Emily was granted a wish from the Special Wish Foundation (for those who don't know Em has Leukemia but is now in remission). Em's wish was to go to Disney.

I have been teasing her about sneaking me in her suitcase and taking me with her. So last night I took a picture of me and the boys glued it to a piece of poster board, inserted a Popsicle stick in the middle and cut off all the background stuff. Em called me after she was picked up by the Limo at 5:30 this morning and Coleton and I met her at the Dayton Airport to send her on her way. We gave her "the Oaks family on a stick" She thought it was funny and I told her "See you can take up with you."

Em called me shortly after getting off of her first plane ride to tell me they made it to Florida. I am sure "We" will have a wonderful time in Florida. I hope "I" don't get sun burnt.

Have a GREAT time Emily, sending you lots of hugs and kisses

Gaelic Storm was in town and we were there...

If you have not heard of Gaelic Storm you have to visit their website http://www.gaelicstorm.com/. They are one of the boys and my favorite bands. Of course it is an Irish band. Gaelic Storm debut was in the movie Titanic, they were the band playing when Rose and Jack went to the party in the lower level of the ship.

They were here for the Irish fest in downtown Dayton. I took the boys Friday night and they loved them. Usually when we see them at the Celtic fest the boys are ready to go after a couple of songs (just because they were younger and got tired) but this year they wanted to stay and watch all of it. That show is all I heard about on the way home and they talked about wanting to go back for the Saturday night show, they knew we had Emily's wedding to go to but I told them we could do both.
At the Saturday night show I let them get in line for autographs, that made Coleton and Keltons evening.

Enjoy the pictures and until the next posting have a great week.

Congratulation Emily and Zach

Emily and Zach shared their vows to each other on Saturday July 25th. It was a very pretty wedding. The boys and I was only able to stay at the reception for a short time, we were trying to squeeze as many things into one day as possible and they wanted to see Gaelic Storm at the Celtic Fest (see next posting).

This is the card I made for them. I think it turned out very pretty. I used Very Vanilla cardstock and Baja Breeze cardstock (retired sorry), Velum and the Manhattan Flower embossing folder for the Big Shot. The outside paper was a textured paper from Creative Memories, I think (it was one of those papers you just have to have and know you will use it sooner or later.)

A weekend at Hocking Hills

Have you ever been to Hocking Hills? If you haven't you need to take a trip there. It is breathe taking.

I went with Coleton and the Boy Scouts. The weather was beautiful, not to hot and not to cold. You would have thought it as a nice Autumn day not the middle of July WOW! We were going to go swimming but those plans changed quickly.

There were 12 boys and 6 adults that went and we took a 10 mile hike. The first 9 were easy but before we walked the last mile we took a 5 mile car ride to our last place to see and that was a mistake to ride for a short time. The walk to the Rock house was only 1/2 mile in and a 1/2 mile back to the parking lot but man was it a killer. It was soooo worth all the ouch, ouch, ouch from the muscles.

Enjoy the photos

I have not fallen off the face of the earth...

I want to apologize to everyone. I have been swamped with things at home and I have fallen into a slump (it is just me and my dad situation I promise some days it gets to be more than I can handle). I get this way every once in a while then I snap out of it. So please bear with me. I am going camping with Coleton this weekend to Hocking Hills and I am hoping this escape will pull me through. (fingers crossed)
