Making time to Craft...

Now that the cave is over I am making time to get back to my card making and scrapbooking. This is the first project I completed in a while. It felt really good go see it completed and the smile it put on Allens face when we gave it to him. This is called a flip book. I have made a couple of them and I think they turn out really neat. The boys wanted me to make this for Allen the boy who helped them out. He was a big help to them and gave them a really neat opportunity with their parts. If it wasn't for him I don't think they would have had that much fun. Thanks Allen.

Where has the time gone...

Here we go again. Me not being on here for almost 2 months. I know the whole month of October was crazy with working at the Haunted Cave in Lewisburg. It was soooooo much fun. The boys had a blast. Hearing them come into the break room telling how they scared this person and that person and how they made girls pee their pants and just laugh. Eating Waffle House at 2 O'clock in the morning was not my cup of tea but the boys loved every second of it. I would not have changed anything the month of October even though it was one of the longest months of my life. I was exhausted. It was nothing to average 1500 people coming through a night. A couple of nights there was over 22oo people go through the cave. We were rated #1 in Dayton and #3 in the Tri-state but the boys were thrilled to be a part of it.

Are you ready...to be scared

The boys are working that the Lewisburg Haunted Cave this Halloween season. Oh my what fun it is. Opening night is this Friday and the boys are really looking forward to it. If you go you will have to look for the crow that is Coleton, then be careful if you turn around Kelton will be hiding and ready to pull up a scary monster at you. This past Sunday was dress rehearsal and it was to funny. After we were finished we were able to walk through it to see the rest of the cave in action. I remind you neither of the boys has ever been to a haunted house and was this an experience. After working there several time in September helping with the set up and standing outside with everyone in costume it would be no big deal (knowing everything is fake and knowing the people who are in the costumes) so I really didn't think much about walking through it with the boys. Well I was WRONG. Kelton was scared out of his mind. I had to drag him through most of it. So we will see Friday once it is in full performance to see if he can handle it or not. I sure hope so! I know he will be disappointed with himself if he doesn't do it. I know him well enough and I think we will be OK (cross our fingers)

Stamp Camp from Saturday

Saturday I went to a stamp camp and these were the projects we made. I love going to these type of events. Seeing what creations everyone comes up with.

The Christmas card was so simple but yet it turned out great and is really easy to reproduce several time for the bulk card send and so much cheaper then buying boxed cards and you will the honor of saying you made them yourself.

The Happy Halloween card is actually a brag book with 6 pages in it. I absolutely love this project and I will be having a class with it. It was so easy but really cool. What an awesome gift to give someone.

The little basket was made using the new BIG SHOT. You can see more about it on my Stampin Up! web site. http://www.nikkioaks.stampinup.net/. I am really looking forward to ordering mine and being able to share and show it with you.

The blue card was super easy and I can not wait to give it to a friend tomorrow at work. The envelope was made again with the BIG SHOT.

The pretty pink and red card was really cool again. Did you notice the envelope again. Do I need to type BIG SHOT again! This is a really awesome tool to have. The cool part about it, is it can use any type of dies with it and it can cut over 50 types of materials. Anything from paper to fabric, leather to some metals and really it will cut so much that have to look at the list of everything.

The last really cool project was this ribbon book mark. SSSSSOOOOOO simple (Why didn't I think of this). I took this idea an ran with it today. I made several out of materials I have collected through the past couple of years and this is what I came up with. This are going to make fun little simple gifts when needed.

Altered Clipboards

I have seen several of these altered clipboards on one of my favorite sites http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ so I thought I would try it for myself. I am very excited to make more now I have an idea of what I am doing and what to expect of the paper and glue (like seeming like it doesn't want to sick and the air bubbles). I worked on these one Sunday that I had dad home from the nursing home and they actually went together pretty quickly. I will be offering them as a class once I perfect it. So keep your eye out for more on here. I have several ideas now that I am really thinking outside of the box with them. I can't wait to sit down and really play with them.

Saturday I am doing to an upline regional meeting which the supply list for us to bring is crazy so I am sure we are going to have some awesome project to do. Look for those pictures Sunday on here.

This past weekend Coleton and I went camping on Put In Bay with scouts. We had a blast. It was a Boy Scout Camp-ree. Over 1200 scouts from Canada and the US was there. We could not have asked for better weather on Saturday, Sunday tearing down camp was another subject it just poured. One thing I did learn on this trip is a note to self "PACK PILLOW FIRST!" I also know I will never leave behind my air mattress. I didn't want to have to carry it thinking it would be to heavy. Well sore arms for a short time is better then no sleep and sleeping on the sleeping pad (I am still trying to figure out what the point is of it haha)

Coleton and I had another first with Para sailing. I was so proud of him. It was fun to be doing it with him. It is so peaceful up there and we had a great talk while we enjoyed the scenery.

How goofy can two boys be in one evening

I came home from work tonight and boy were they full of energy so I gave Coleton the camera to go take pictures and doing that you never know what you are going to get. This is a perfect example. I don't really think they could get goofier.

Since it has been a while since we have had any rain and the grass, the brown, crunchy stuff we call grass, was screaming for water. I turned on the sprinkler and a short time later I go outside to check on it and this is what I seen. So of course it was a kodak moment. Again lets talk goofy.

Saturdays crop

I was the consultant Saturday night at a crop in Eaton, this is the card we made. I taught a technique called faux metal using several layers of embossing powder and a rubber stamp. Everyone in attendance thought the card was really cute and the technique got lots of ooh and aah's. Once we really got into it we came up with lots of ideas with this technique. It is really cool and fun to do. It is worth trying.

Soft sky card stock, versa mark stamp pad, soft sky ribbon and silver embossing powder was the products used. If you are interested in this technique let me know and I would be more than happy to show you or to tell you how.

Florida Bound and had a Blast!!!!

The boys and I took a short vacation to Florida to visit our aunt Judy and our cousins. Not much was planned but the time away was really nice. The boys were fascinated with the lizards. They also had a blast Saturday when we visited the ocean. We took a ride on cousin Mike's boat where we fished for a short time and Coleton caught his fish he needed to catch for scouts. After fishing, cousin Rhonda and her family met up with us and we went to some island which was awesome. The boys played in the sand, hunted for shells and jumped the waves, just as any kid does when they see the ocean for the first time. In the afternoon we went tubing it was another first for the boys. THEY LOVED IT!

Sunday our family had a cookout and a carry-in. Kids played in the pool and the adults chatted. It was a really relaxing day. Monday was our day to come home. Thank goodness because tropical storm Faye was heading our way. Our plane ride was adventurous after delays we finally got home at 11:00 at night and school started the next day. Luckily the boys were tired and no problems getting them to sleep.

I forgot to mention when Coleton was holding on for dear life to the tube, he got a rope burn (it was on the tube) on his chin. He was really proud of it :)

Enjoy the photos and the video of Coleton tubing. I had to ride with Kelton so we did not get taped :(.

OH MY...

It doesn't seem like it has been since May that I posted last. But it is summer and it seems like we don't get inside until about 9:30 every night. Once we are in, it is bath time, Coleton's shot time and I catch up on shows I DVRed then it is time to sleep and start all over the next day. So it is kinda like the McDonald's commercial years ago. Get up, go to work, go to bed, get up, go to work, go to bed.

I promise I haven't forgotten about my blog and I really want to keep it up to date. I will be going to Florida next Wednesday August 13 - 18 and the next day the boys start school so we will start our normal fall routines and I will have more time to crop and make cards.

I am planning on having several crops and classes in September and October. Please check out my Stampin Up website for dates. But give me time to get back from Florida.

Memorial Day Weekend Scrapping Time

This past weekend I was really able to sit down and get a couple of things started (I wish completed, but as a scrapper we always have things started. Do we really get them COMPLETED?). I wanted to show you my album that I am working on for my summer display for classes and workshops. Eventually I think I am going to use it for my 20th year class reunion, since it was held early spring.

I am using the Simply Scrappin' Summer Days Kit. I actually love this kit. I think the colors are great in it.

Wild Wasabi
Real Red
Pumpkin Pie
Bashful Blue

I added in a few pages from the Hostess Designer Series Pack paper.

I will be having more pages to come so keep checking back in for more postings.

Friday, May 23, 2008

Hello all. I think I may be ready to start posting on here. I have handed out a few business cards with this address on it so I better get down and serious about which is what I really really want to do.

I want to use this blog for a place for me and my friends (new and old) to post their work as well as mine.

I will be posting a challenge on here every other week. I will start off easy for the first few weeks for all new scrappers and card makers to get the hang of this and of what to do. Your pages and cards and be as simple or as difficult as you want them to be.

Our first challenge is: Make a card or scrapbook page using the color Turquoise and 3 buttons. I don't care what else it has on it just must contain the color Turquoise and have at least 3 Buttons
